Background

TLS stands for Transport Layer Security and is utilized by Selman's e-mail servers to speak to Supplier's servers in an encrypted "tunnel".  If the Supplier utilizes Micosoft's Exchange (Office 365), this TLS connection is automatic (because Selman utilizes Office 365).

By utilizing an establish TLS conection (established between Selman's IT department and the Supplier's IT department),  "selsecure" is not needed in the subject line/message body. This is sometimes referenced as a "Forced TLS" connection.

Best practice: always include "selsecure" in the body/subject line of an email when PII is being sent.

Selman's IT department has "white listed" certain Carrier domains that have established an TLS connection with Selman.  If an email is sent to a white listed domain, the client will not receive the selsecure email that requires an additional password to view its contents.

If you send an email to a Carrier that utilizes the Selman/Carrier TLS connection AND include an outside email address (ie the broker), the email to the Carrier will be encryped via the TLS connection and the email to the broker will be encrypted via the forced-encrypted selsecure methodology.
