InsPro Report Manager Instructions

Data and reports related to the business can be accessed via the Self Service Report System (SSRS) Report Manager

  1. The Report Manager home page is located here http://selsql/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ViewMode=Detail and can be added as a favorite on your browser (see IT support for assistance if you cannot access the home page
  2. Access to SSRS folders from the home page must be approved by management and permissions granted by IT
    1. Not everyone is permitted to have access to all folders
    2. Key folders that should be accessible are
      1. Account Management
      2. Customer Service
      3. Marketing
    3. Some reports are available from more than one folder; it does not matter which folder is used to access the report
  3. Commonly used reports are Inspro Coverage and Inspro Policy data
    1. Similar data, but Inspro Coverage is more robust and includes records for dependent children and spouses when applicable; Inspro Policy data is one record per P number (Selman assigned policy number)
    2. To run report take the following steps:
      1. Open SSRS home page
      2. Select Folder where report is located (remember that reports can be in more than one folder and it doesn’t matter which folder is used to access the report)
      3. Find the desired report name (such as Inspro Coverage Data) and click on that report (it is highlighted in blue like a hyperlink)
      4. For Inspro Coverage Data, enter the client name if looking for just one client’s data, or select “Null” for all clients
      5. Select Company Code – you can check multiple carriers in one report but note that if too many are selected the report will be too large and “time out”
      6. If you need only limited data, there are fields to enter parameters such as Effective Date to limit the range of data pulled into the report
        1. You do not have to enter parameters and null entry will pull all data
        2. Generally, it is easier and more effective not to limit the search parameters and pull all or nearly all data
      7. You can select which fields you want to EXCLUDE from the report via drop down box
        1. Consider excluding first, middle and last names and street addresses unless you are sure they are needed
      8. After the parameters are selected, click “View Report” button in top right corner
      9. After report is completed, download as Excel or .csv file into Excel
        1. Some reports are too large to download as an Excel file
        2. When .csv (comma delimited file) is selected, it downloads into an Excel worksheet and can be saved as an Excel file
      10. After report is in Excel, then filters and pivot tables can be applied to manipulate the data as needed
