How to handle a Tricare/CHAMPVA Caller

You will get phone calls from our Insureds and their Provider (doctors office) 

When the call comes in you may hear things like 

I am checking on the status of a claim.

I received a bill from my doctors office.

Why hasn't Selman & Company paid by bill from Dr. XYZ?

Please take a moment and ask a clearifying questions

If this for medical or life insurance? 

If medical it is Tricare or CHAMPVA 

If Tricare or CHAMPVA please ask 

Are you the Insured or the Provider?

If it is the insured we will speak with them, please provide our correct contact number

If it is the provider. Please advise the following
 

You should refer all Tricare/CHAMPVA providers looking for claim status to CHC for claim status.

Please use the script.

Please keep in mind when you get a call form a provider who needs to check the status of a claim you will need to use this verbiage...

Have you check our clearing house for the status of your claim?

If yes:

The status of the claims is on the EOB. You will be able to download and print the EOB’s on your own from our clearing house, CHC, Change Healthcare.

If No:

Please visit our clearing house CHC, Change Healthcare. 

You will need to register with our clearing house. Please reach out to your supervisor or administrator to have them register your organization. Once, they have registered your organization you will be supplied with log in credentials.

Once you log in you will get the status of your claim and print your own EOB's

You can obtain the registeration number to CHC from our records please dial 1.800.638.2610, option 4
