Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP)

This is similar to COBRA. Qualifying members may continue TRICARE for 18 to 36 months following loss of military health benefits (usually following divorce or a child’s attainment of the maximum age). CHCBP has similar coverage, benefits, providers, and program rules to TRICARE Select.

Corporate insureds who elect CHCBP may continue the supplement policy for the same period of time. The member should submit proof of the CHCBP effective date as well as the names of the family members who will be moving to CHCBP. These requests should be forwarded to BILLINGWORKFLOW@SELMANCO.COM

When setting up the policy for the first time. Enrollment will need to assign a new Emerge ID number to the affected family members. This new ID number will take effect on the CHCBP effective date and terminate when CHCBP terminates. This is necessary because CHCBP has its own $3,000 Cat Cap (separate from the TRICARE Cat Cap).

Retail insureds who elect CHCBP may NOT continue the supplement plan. These insureds should send us proof of the CHCBP effective date so that we may terminate the supplement coverage on the same date and issue a refund of the unused premium. Please send an email to billingworkflow@selmanco.com to request a refund for unused premium.

***Note: As of 09/18/2020 there is one known CHCBP policy. Please see
